Here is a site I just found that is very interesting. It is something that I wish I could do if my city would change ordinances: Back Yard Chickens...in the city. Here is an additional resource: How to keep chickens in the city from WikiHow. Urban chickens appear to be the next movement in the Victory Garden genre. Maybe I won't need to move to the country after all.

This is hilarious! I know what you mean about wishing the city would change the livestock ordinances. Somewhere, I read that Wichita allows backyard chickens, but I have not followed up on that. At some point, I may decide to challenge our town's "chicken ordinances". MANY of our ordinances are covered in chicken feathers. :)

I would love to have backyard chickens, and I even live sort of country-ish. Sadly, though, in a subdivision, with stupid subdivision rules about livestock. An then of course, there's the Akita...
But I still want chickens.
